SeaBlend for Horses FAQs

Q:

I have concerns about the iodine content, and its harmful effect on my horse, since hearing a talk on how to feed your horse

A:

Iodine is a necessary element in every animal’s diet, including humans, but horses do not tolerate high doses of iodine in their diet as do other animals.

The daily minimum requirement is 2 mg, and the amount of iodine in SeaBlend is approved by the Canadian Food Inspection Agency.

Q:

Can I feed my horse more than 1 tablespoon a day?

A:

Yes you can, but usually there is no need to do so. Pregnant mares should be given an extra tablespoon per day during the last month of pregnancy.

Although the daily recommended feeding rate is 14g, you may feed up to 100g daily without any harm to horse health.

Q:

Is SeaBlend a source of electrolytes?

A:

Yes ! The presence of all the essential salts in SeaBlend helps maintain the electrolyte balance in the body.

Electrolytes are lost due to sweat, and scours.
The signs indicating when they are out of balance are muscle spasms, tying up, exhaustion, thumps, and irregular heartbeat.

Electrolytes participate in countless chemical processes of life.

For the working and pleasure horse, they function as a regulator of blood viscosity, acid-base balance, nerve muscle interaction, gastrointestinal function, heartbeat, and muscle function.

Should any of these conditions occur, 2-3 tablespoons of SeaBlend at each feeding is recommended, or a "drenching" should be given if seriously distressed.
